Robotic Assisted Surgery

Robotic Assisted Surgery

When thinking about whether or not to have surgery, a lot of questions arise on what will be the best option for you. Should you have the surgery? What type of surgery is ultimately going to help you the most and improve your health?

One option offered by Westside OB-GYN is that of da Vinci Surgery, a minimally invasive surgery that is conducted using state-of-the-art robotic technology that enables the physician to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity, and control1. The da Vinci system is similar to laparoscopic surgery in that it requires just a few small incisions at the surgical site. It offers a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and has special wrist instruments that move with greater flexibility than that of the human wrist. With the physician maintaining complete control of the da Vinci robotic system, they are able to translate their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body.

At this time, we use da Vinci Surgery primarily on patients requiring hysterectomies, though it can be used for a variety of issues, depending on the patient’s need.

Dr. Andreas Staebler and Dr. Stephen Jackson are both trained in the use of the da Vinci system.
