Dr. Staebler was born in Ostfildern-Ruit, Germany before moving to New Bern, NC at the age of 10. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate studies and majored in Biology. Dr. Staebler received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2008. He subsequently completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia. During the course of his residence training Dr. Staebler was the recipient of the William Langdon award, which is presented to the senior resident who best exemplifies compassionate care of his or her patients.
Dr. Staebler’s training has prepared him for providing comprehensive medical care for women of all ages and to address the unique problems that might arise throughout the course of a woman’s reproductive life. His professional interests include routine obstetrical care, basic infertility, as well as minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. He is particularly interested in the developing field of robotic surgery and was trained in the use of the DaVinci robotic surgical system. Use of the DaVinci robotic system allows for a minimally invasive approach in select patients, which in turn translates into quicker recovery times and a shorter hospital stay. In his spare time Dr. Staebler enjoys fishing, tinkering on his jeep, gardening, and spending time with his wife Jennifer and their two sons.
